Forgotten History: George Washington Pictured Dunking Face in Water, Rubbing Banana Peel On Skin Moments Before Battle Of Saratoga
MOUNT VERNON, VA - Newly discovered documents from 1777 reveal that moments before the Battle of Saratoga - a turning point in the Revolutionary War - General George Washington prepared with a series of self-care rituals like dunking his face in a bowl of cucumber-infused ice water, rubbing a banana peel on his skin, and scribbling motivational quotes in a journal.
The finding coincides with the current internet buzz surrounding fitness influencers like Ashton Hall sharing their 'grind set' routines, which include strikingly similar practices.
While many of these influencers have faced tremendous ridicule online, American historians now believe they may be purposefully mimicking the behaviors of these great leaders.
"I first heard about the face dunking trend from my son who showed me a video on TikTok," said historian John Smith. "But that's when I remembered another snapping young lad who did the exact same things. Our first president and Commander of the Continental Army of the United States: George Washington.”
While fans of American history were thrilled to hear the news, some historians warn that their optimism is misguided.
"The sad reality is that these tactics were also used by other, less admirable figures in our history, like Adolf Hitler, Genghis Khan, and Bill Cosby, to name a few," historian Joan Trumble claimed. “The only thing we can be sure of is that whoever has these kinds of grind set routines is psychotic.”
At press time, additional evidence revealed that President Washington was famous for taunting the British by kicking his legs from side to side while holding his hand in the shape of an "L" on his forehead, eerily reminiscent of a popular TikTok dance.
