Sleepy Plane Tries To Get Some Rest After A Long Flight

TORONTO, CANADA - On Monday, Delta flight 4819 from Minneapolis flipped over after crash-landing on a snowy runway.

While all 80 passengers and crew survived, flight experts say that the incident wasn’t out of the ordinary and a sign that the plane may have been exhausted.

“While it doesn't happen often, sometimes planes get a little tired from long flights, especially in cold weather like this. In these circumstances, they have a tendency to roll over to try and get some sleep immediately after landing. Similar to how a horse will just give out if they’re too tired,” pilot Barry Mumford said.

According to surveillance footage at the Minneapolis Airport, the pilots were seen affectionately stroking the plane’s side and whispering sweet nothings to encourage it to make it one more flight just before takeoff.

Additionally, audio recordings with air traffic controllers revealed that the pilots stopped using official flight terminology when landing as they just kept repeating, “this old girl needs a break.”

At press time, Canadian officials announced that they would make sure each plane that traveled internationally more than once per day received a fair amount of carrots and sugar cubes.
