Speaker Johnson Vows Not To Pass Ukraine And Israel Aid Bill Until Someone Explains To Him How Money Laundering Works

WASHINGTON, D.C. - After the Senate passed a $95 billion foreign aid package for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan on Tuesday, House Speaker Mike Johnson vowed to not pass the bill until someone explains to him how money laundering works.

“This bill is absolutely ridiculous,” Speaker Johnson said at a press conference. “We’ve sent billions of dollars to foreign countries all over the world since I was elected speaker, and I still have nothing to show for it. Joe Biden is making money, Chuck Schumer is making money, Mitch McConnell is making money, even Dan Crenshaw is making money. I’m not letting any foreign aid package to Ukraine or Israel get through until someone tells me how this ‘money laundering’ thing works and how I can get in on it.”

Despite general support from the majority of Congressional Republicans, Republican voters are far less enthusiastic about more foreign aid for Ukraine and Israel after a report revealed that Ukrainian elected officials were caught trying to embezzle $40 billion worth of defense funds just a few weeks ago.

Regardless of their concerns, establishment Republicans are standing by their stance on the need for more foreign aid. At a town hall in Bamberg, South Carolina earlier in the week, Nikki Haley told voters that, “passing this aid package is critical to helping the poor, heartsick, grief-stricken Northrop Grumman and Raytheon executives who missed out on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.”
